Websites
A website is a combination of related web pages, images, videos or other digital media that is hosted on one or more web servers and can be accessed on the Internet.
Risks:
- Many websites present unsuited material such as pornography, gambling and drugs. This kind of information is common on the web and is easily accessed deliberately or accidentally. Children can reach inappropriate material just by misspelling the website URL. Some pornographic websites may intentially have URLs that are similiar to known children website URLs.
- Another common problem is misleading information or misleading advertising. Children who lack experience and maturity can be exposed to marketing ploys, and unauthorized use of personal information. There are websites that post false information (such as promises of different rewards that appeal to children) , which can persuade a child to give up private information or pay for unwanted merchandise.
