MAC Address Filtering
MAC Address Filtering refers to a security access
control methodology, in which the 48-bit address
assigned to each network card is used to determine access to the network.
In most Wi-Fi access points and routers
this feature is
disabled by default. This feature relys on a white list of clients
(based on their MAC address)
created by the owner of the Wi-Fi network.
When this feature is enabled it
checks each request to join the Wi-Fi
network and compares the client MAC
address to the white list.
If the client is on the list, access is allowed; if not, then access is denied.
